Ahhhh, brings up memories of Sunday afternoons in Branchville and little girls dressing up in feathers and laces stored in Grandmother's trunk and climbing on hay bales and sliding down a mountain of cottonseed and riding the old mule bareback. Then meeting up 65 years later, old ladies sipping tea on the Victorian porch at Green Pastures and laughing at long ago times.

Wonderful Alice, (I wrote a beautiful :-) comment last night and our Blogspot friend messed it up). So, today. I re-read your birthday post and still think it is the best writing I'd read on aging gracefully. I'm sorry I missed your special day and so loved having you at my 74th. Alice, I've always thought you were one of the most gifted writers I know...so happy to hear about your course and the joy it brought you. The other day I saw a rainbow...one that lasted for close to 30 minutes...then it became a double rainbow. I like the thought of summer being a new beginning. I wait all year for summer to get here. Yesterday, on the spur of the moment I went to San Antonio for lunch with three teenagers. What a blessing. Thanks for the lovely thoughts.
PS. You can make pizza dough in a bread maker. It makes delish crust and is so easy!! Let me know if you want the recipe!!

A plan. Ahhhh. I'm grateful that your thoughts uplift and give me courage--along with a large helping of JOY! I love playing the game, 'how much can I do in the' 2 minutes for tea water to heat, 2 minutes for shower water to be just right, etc. etc. I feel less alone knowing I have a sister-planner out there!!

Dear Dear Alice,
Isn't that the problem with being the mom? We always have to hold everything together. A wise friend of mine told me a long time ago, "You have to take care of the kids and house. They (the husbands) can't do it." I have found those words to be true. Not a comfort though.

I also struggle with doing the things I want to do and I do not even work. Our pastor said a while back that our passion should have an urgency. I found that comforting. If I want to sew more, write more, and read more, then I must make it the urgent thing. Sounds easy enough, but it is not. So, I adjusted from trying to do the things I wanted from 2 hours a day to 4 hours a day. So far it is not working too well, but I keep trying. If that is where I am supposed to serve God, then eventually the kinks will work out and the urgency will be fulfilled. I think!!

God bless you and take a stand for the "urgent" things in your life!
